In this episode of The Thoughtful Counselor, Priscilla Wilson interviews Mrs. Sewell, LPC, owner of Angela Sewell Counseling in Southside, Alabama. Some of her specialties include trauma-focused counseling, counseling children, and equine therapy. Mrs. Sewell will describe equine therapy and how she uses it in her practice with children, especially those who have experienced trauma.
Angela Sewell, MS, LPC graduated from Jacksonville State University in 2016 with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and has been in private practice since 2017. Angela specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults who are struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and overcoming trauma. She has been an equine professional for over twenty years and has learned how to partner with horses in the counseling session to help clients. Angela has attended training through Natural Lifemanship for Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. Therapy techniques/modalities used include: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Dialectal Behavior Therapy; Trauma Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (based on the Natural Lifemanship Modality).
