About this Episode:
We are the natural world. Drawing from over 30 years of experience, Katie discusses practical strategies that counselors and their clients can use to connect to the natural world for self-care, guidance, and support during this challenging time. Katie shares experiential and trauma-informed exercises that therapists can utilize during in-person and tele-therapy sessions.
Katie’s interest and expertise lie in a progressive and integrated approach to healing and wellness that is based on invoking the inherent wisdom of the body-mind-spirit connection, on utilizing the natural world as healer and guide, and on accessing and appreciating the abundance of the universe. With nearly 30 years experience working in the wilderness, and 20+ years as a clinician working with a variety of populations, Katie has spent a great deal of her career bridging the two fields of work and spent many years as an educator, trainer, author and presenter of such work. Currently, she manages, directs, teaches and sees private practice clients through her business, The Somatic Wilderness Therapy Institute (SWTI), a multi-dimensional therapeutic and educationally-based organization that incorporates Wilderness and Body-Centered Psychotherapies in Boulder, Colorado. She is passionate about supporting people to learn, grow and be their most radiant selves in the world!
